Update your Computer: Make certain that you have the latest updates from Microsoft. For Windows XP, visit WindowsUpdate. Be aware that SP3 for XP is now available. For Windows Vista, click the Start button, click All Programs, and then click Windows Update; note that SP1 for Vista has been released. If you have a Mac, from the Apple menu, choose Software Update... or visit Apple Downloads. |

Connect to the Network: There are three ways to connect to the network; a wireless connection anywhere in Lewis Hall, a wired connection available in the classrooms, or through the VPN from off campus (as long as you have a broadband internet connection). For help getting connected to the network, pick your connection from the list. |

Connect to File and Printer Servers: The School of law makes network storage and network printing available from anywhere
you can get a connection to the internet. However, you will have to configure your computer to access these resources. There is a wizard
available that will generate a script you can run to easily connect to your network drives. If you are a more hands-on kind of computer user,
look for the detailed instructions in the "Legacy Links" section. Note: Printing cost $0.10 per page, but you are given an $80 print subsidy for the year. Bills go out at the end of each semester. |

Get Your E-Mail: Starting in 2008, new students will have email accounts on a new system, hosted by Microsoft. Access to your email is through the web or integrated with Microsoft OutLook 2007. You DO NOT NEED GroupWise. |

Install Software: In order to be on our network, your computer MUST have antivirus software that is not only functioning, but also up-to-date. We make Symantec Antivirus available to students at no charge. We also have the standard Microsoft Office suite available for download. It does NOT include OneNote nor Groove; if you need either, come see us and we can lend you the appropriate CD. |

Additional Help: The Technology Services staff is available five days a week to help you with computing questions. If you have problems with your personal laptop, check with Technology Service for HelpDesk hours. The Technology Services staff is located next to the Tax Clininc on LL3. Also watch for announcements that the technology staff will be available in the Brief Stop. Lastly, make CERTAIN you have a backup plan in place for your laptop. Additional help can be found in the "Other Tools" section of the Technology web page. |
