Chief Justice, Supreme Court of Virginia to Speak

Lexington, VA Tuesday, October 19, 2004Justice Hassell became the first African American Chief Justice in the history of the Commonwealth when he saw sworn in as the 24th Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Virginia.

Born and raised in Norfolk, VA., Chief Justice Hassell received his undergraduate degree in Government and Foreign Affairs at the University of Virginia and his J.D. from Harvard.
