Peter T. Jetton
In this new capacity, Jetton will coordinate all communications activities for the School of Law, including strategic planning, news and event promotion, publications, media relations and internal communications. In addition, he will manage web and email communications and the growing repository of digital content produced by the Law School.
"I am delighted that Peter Jetton will be assuming this new position," said Dean Rodney A. Smolla. "Both the position itself and Peter's superb skills as its occupant are highly significant to the Law School. The creation of the position reflects the growing complexity and vibrancy of our educational programs, which merit the efforts of a full time professional in projecting our efforts to the world."
"As for Peter, he is an excellent writer and communicator, as well as a creative and strategic thinker--just what we need," added Smolla.
For the last three years, Jetton has been chief architect of the Law School's external web presence, taking the site through several redesigns and greatly increasing the quantity and frequency of online dynamic content, including news coverage, RSS feeds, and podcasts. He is also lead developer of the Law School's web-based content management system. Before joining the School of Law in 2005, Jetton served as W&L's University Web Editor, where he was responsible for a variety of web-based resources and development projects.
"I am thrilled and honored to take on these responsibilities during such an important time in the School's history," said Jetton. "We suffer an embarrassment of riches when it comes to dynamic and engaged faculty, students and alumni. I never run out of great stories to tell."
Jetton earned a B.A. in English from Dickinson College in 1994 and an M.A. in English from North Carolina State University in 1998. Prior to joining the University in 2000, Jetton taught rhetoric and composition at James Madison University. He was also employed as a project manager in the Professional Services division of SAS Institute, one of the largest privately-owned software companies in the world.
Jetton lives in Lexington with his wife, Jennifer, and three children, Violet, Maren and August.Email This Page
