Ben Spencer, visiting professor at the Washington and Lee University School of Law, has been appointed to the West Publishing Company Law School Advisory Board.
West is a chief provider of legal, regulatory, and business information and annually publishes over 66 million books and 500 CD-ROM libraries in addition to being the home of Westlaw, an online research tool indexing over 16,000 news databases. West's ten-member advisory board includes such legal luminaries as Arthur Miller, Mary Kay Kane, Yale Kamisar, and Joshua Dressler.
"It is a great testament to the esteem with which Ben is held that he would be invited to join this prestigious Board so early in his career," said Dean Rod Smolla.
Professor Spencer is one of the nation's rising stars in the field of civil procedure and federal jurisdiction. Last year, while a professor at the University of Richmond School of Law, Professor Spencer was awarded the Virginia State Council of Higher Education "Rising Star" award, given to the most promising junior faculty member among all academic fields at all colleges and universities in Virginia. Spencer was the first law professor ever to win the award.
More information about Professor Spencer is available on his faculty web page.
