Jerald Hess advises global and domestic energy companies, financial institutions and multinational clients in complex litigation, arbitration, and administrative proceedings involving regulatory issues, business torts and contractual disputes of all kinds at DLA Piper. He has experience in all stages of litigation, including first-chair trial and appellate experience.
Jerald also regularly counsels oil and gas pipelines with respect to their jurisdictional status, rates, capacity allocation methodologies, regulated practices and corporate restructuring issues. He advises pipeline clients regarding new and existing infrastructure projects, rate disputes, and other regulatory issues. Jerald also advises alternative energy producers on a range of issues including tax credits, licensing and permitting, and interconnection disputes. Jerald also routinely advises pipelines, electric utilities, trading firms and multinational clients on compliance and enforcement issues, including government investigations, risk management and litigation avoidance strategies.
Jerald has an active insurance practice, regularly advising insurance policyholders in coverage disputes involving policyholders in the healthcare, real estate, banking, steel and energy industries. Jerald assists clients with respect to the insurance aspects of transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, insurance issues in bankruptcy proceedings and environmental insurance.
