Timothy C. MacDonnell
BiographyTimothy C. MacDonnell joined Washington and Lee as an Assistant Clinical Professor of Law in 2008 and directs the School of Law's Black Lung Legal Clinic. Professor MacDonnell's career as a lawyer has been entirely in various roles with the United States Army, including the job of Chief of the Criminal Law Division in the Office of the Staff Judge Advocate, Associate Professor of Law in the U.S. Army JAG School, Deputy Chief of the U.S. Army Trial counsel Assistance program, Operations Officer of the Operations and Training Division of the Office of the Criminal Law, and most recently serving as Regime Crimes Liaison Officer to the Department of State, acting as an attorney/advisor to the Iraqi High Tribunal in Baghdad, Iraq. In addition to directing the Black Lung Clinic, Professor MacDonnell works with other transnational law faculty in the newly established Rule of Law in Iraq practicum, which involves students in public defender work in the Iraqi national courts. Professor MacDonnell has a Master of Laws Degree from the University of Virginia, a J.D. from Suffolk University Law School, and a B.A. from the University of Massachusetts.
