We, the Black Law Students Association of Washington and Lee University School of Law, exist for the support, guidance and direction of diverse students in academic, professional and social endeavors throughout the campus. Our main function is to assist members in the development of their legal careers by providing opportunities for exposure to various areas and aspects of the legal profession. We recognize the need to act positively in the development of the community, to encourage cooperation and closer ties between members of the Law School's multicultural community and to establish a vehicle through which our concerns are brought to bear on Washington and Lee University School of Law policy and the community at large.
The purpose of BLSA is to use the collective resources of the chapter to:
· Further the academic, social and professional needs and goals of Black and minority law students;
· Maintain a relationship with Black and minority alumni and other interested lawyers from the local area;
· Communicate the contributions that Black and minority attorneys have made to the American legal structure;
· Instill in BLSA members a greater awareness and commitment to the needs of the Black law community and surrounding community
· Maintain active status as chapter of the National Black Law Students Association
