Application Information for Transfer Students
How do I apply to Washington and Lee School of Law as a transfer
student for the J.D. program?
- Submit the W&L admission application indicating
your intention to seek admission as a transfer student (please also
include any attachments as required by questions III, IV, and V, and the
$50.00 application fee).
- An official statement of your cumulative rank in
class at the end of your first year.
- A letter from the dean of your current law
school, written after the end of the spring semester, stating that you are
a student in good standing and are eligible to return to the law school
for your second year.
- Two letters of recommendation from faculty
members at your current law school.
- An official transcript of your entire
first-year's work in law school issued after spring semester grades have
been posted.
- A copy of your LSAT/LSDAS report. You should contact LSAC to insure
that your LSAT/LSDAS subscription is current.
Review of transfer applications will begin shortly
after July 1 for fall semester enrollment, so it is to your advantage to
file your application and all supporting credentials as soon as possible.
Transfer students are admitted only for the fall semester.
