Undergraduate School: Georgetown University
|
This school enjoys a wealth of distinguished scholars and educators, who encourage faculty-student interaction. Professors Calhoun, Natkin, and Millon, who are dedicated teachers both inside and outside the classroom, are great examples.
I enjoyed growing up in Florida surrounded by palm trees and white, sandy beaches. With that said, living in Lexington, situated amongst beautiful mountains, is a nice change. It truly is gorgeous here, especially in the fall when all the leaves are changing colors.
As a 2L, I was enrolled in Professor Natkin's General Externship Program. I externed at Blue Ridge Legal Services, Inc., a legal aid organization that provides free assistance to low-income residents of the Shenandoah and Roanoke Valleys. My externship afforded me ample opportunity to research and write, interact with and advise clients, and work one-on-one with staff attorneys.
As a 1L and 2L, I have participated in the Honor Advocate Program, which is an organization of law and undergraduate students. Honor Advocates provide assistance before and during hearings to students charged with an honor or conduct violation by one of W&L's judicial bodies. In light of my appreciation for student self-governance and the Honor System, my time assisting with Executive Committee, Student Judicial Council, and other judicial matters has been very rewarding. I also competed on W&L's Jessup Team as a 2L. Moot court was fun, challenging, and educational.
